Job Opportunity

The Sointula Waterworks District is looking for an Office Administrator to fill a regular part-time position, with an average of 20 hours per week. This is a permanent position that combines office management with financial/bookkeeping responsibilities and requires someone with excellent organizational skills who can handle a variety of tasks and prioritize as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update internal databases, both computer-based records and paper files

  • Liaise with ratepayers, government bodies, vendors, external contractors

  • Manage ratepayer accounts: billing, processing payments, collection activities

  • Attend meetings, take notes and produce accurate written minutes

  • Organize all aspects of the annual general meeting

  • Manage and direct contractor activities via work orders

  • Additional activities such as the preparation of budgets, briefing information for the trustees, preparation of by-laws, paying bills, banking, website maintenance, CRA returns and prepare documents for the annual financial audit

Qualifications

  • Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software

  • Experience using a computer-based bookkeeping/accounting program, preferably Sage 50 Professional (formerly known as Simply Accounting)

  • Experience using Geographic Information System software (QGIS) would be also considered an asset

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

  • A professional work ethic: reliable, discreet, self-directed
